Frequently Asked Questions

1)HOW DOES THE FEED IN TARIFF WORK?

The Feed-In Tariff works by paying you 43.3p for every unit you generate irrespective of you using it or not. A typical 3.92kwp PV Solar System will give you a return on your investment of approx £1400.00 minimum in the first year and because it is indexed linked and tax free this amount will rise each year for 25 years-GUARANTEED.

2)DO YOU NEED PLANNING PERMISSION?

Solar energy systems do not require any planning permission although if you do live in a listed building or in an area of outstanding natural beauty, you should get in touch with the planning department at your local council.

3)HOW DOES THE SOLAR ELECTRIC SYSTEM WORK?

Each solar panel generates electricity from the sun and daylight. They produce electricity from daylight and even generate power on cloudy or overcast days. An inverter converts electricity to your home system from direct current to alternating current. When the system is producing more electricity than you need, the excess power is exported to the National Grid.

4)WHAT IS THE COST OF A SOLAR PV SYSTEM?

A typical installation would be between 2-3 kWp and the cost of the installation will depend on roof accessibility and the technology you choose. A typical cost of a PV system is £3,500 per KW installed plus it also depends on the type of module (panel) you choose. Our surveyor will carry out a detailed system costing, which will be left with you to decide whether you want to proceed.

5) DOES THE SYSTEM REQUIRE MAINTENANCE?

Panels do not require any maintenance or regular cleaning. Rain usually washes off any dust or dirt if the panels are at a minimum of 15 degrees.

6) WHAT LENGTH OF TIME WILL A SOLAR ELECTRIC SYSTEM PAY FOR ITSELF?

The customer will not make money for the rest of the systems life but from the rest of the Feed-In Tariff time. The typical payback time is 7 years.
